Project Overview
Development of the biomethane industry is a critical component of Australia’s timely transition to net zero emissions. However, this development requires approaches and tools that enable the relative investability of proposed biomethane projects to be assessed in a consistent, repeatable and transparent fashion under a range of plausible future conditions. This project will refine existing and develop new approaches and tools that provide information on the investability of transmission and distribution line injection projects, paving the way for the establishment of a viable biomethane grid injection industry in Australia.
The project builds upon previous research under the Future Fuels CRC, which produced several publicly available reports available in the FFCRC Research Archive. Additional information can also be found on the FFCRC website under project RP1.2-06: Assessing the barriers to investability for bio-methane grid injection projects.
